Software Development for batch and RF applications |
 |
By developing the Development System for its line of DOS terminals, Datalogic has integrated the most popular solutions of the C compilers with special libraries that are essential for activating and controlling the devices used for the barcode data-collection activities and for which the PC Formula 7400 Pro Palm Laser and the Formula 8500 Handheld Laser PC have been designed.
By using these powerful and flexible software and instruments it is possible to manage the laser reading module to scan the codes, check the battery recharging, control the devices for the messages to the operator, IrDA interfacing and numerous other functions.
It is also possible by software turn on and turn off from the back-light and use a special non-volatile EEPROM memory which is excellent for saving small amounts of particularly important data (such as password, set-up parameters, identification codes, etc.).
All the PC-typical operations of the Formula 7400 Pro and the Formula 8500 are fully supported by procedures in the compiler native libraries.
In the Formula 8500, by ordering a particular extension separately, it is possible to enable and manage the touch-screen functionality.
The use of the Development System is made much easier by the standard DOS environment it works in and by the many demonstration programs included (and commented), as well as by the software utilities enclosed, which are an excellent starting point and, at the same time, a practical guide for studying and working on more complex or personalized programs.
Further flexibility is provided by the Font Editor program, which allows you to modify the characters of the display.

| STRUCTURAL AND FUNCTIONAL OVERVIEW |

Upon installation, the
Development System is displayed as a coordinated and rational group of instruments,
libraries and examples, each in its own specific folder (see figure left).
The Windows environment guarantees an easy and user-friendly management of the
communication utilities.
The Font Editor, the practical program for graphic editing, allows you to adapt the fonts
table to the resolution requirements in the display.
It also allows you to put in national variations as special typical characters, for example, for Scandinavian, Greek, Cyrillic alphabets, etc.
The Development System for Formula 7400 Pro and Formula 8500 is available in two versions.

The standard pack includes the extended libraries for the compilers Borland Turbo C/C++ V
3.0, Borland C/C++ V 3.0 and V 5.01 and for the Microsoft Visual C++ V 1.52 compiler, the
Font Editor program, for modifying the table of the characters displayed, and the program
YBRIDGE for easy transfer of files from a Windows-environment PC to the terminal.
The complete version has the Borland Turbo C/C++ V 3.0 compiler in addition.
System requirements: PC, Windows 95/98 Disk Operating System, floppy drive, RS-232 serial port. |
